Visit of a Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO

At the invitation of President of the National Assembly of the
Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor and in cooperation with the associate
member delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia
to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, a 35 member delegation of the
Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, headed by its vice-president, Senator
Mario Palombo, will visit Slovenia from 31 August to 3 September
2002. The delegation will then continue its visit to Bosnia &
Herzegovina and Kosovo. The purpose of the visit is to acquaint
members of the delegation with the readiness of Slovenia for
membership of NATO, with the history, culture and some economic
indicators of our country, and with conditions in southeast Europe.
The delegation will meet with the President of the National
Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, a delegation of the
National Assembly headed by President Pahor and President of the
Committee of the National Assembly for Foreign Affairs Jelko Kacin,
President of the Republic of Slovenia Milan Kucan, Minister of
European Affairs Dr. Janez Potocnik, Minister of Defence Dr. Anton
Grizold and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the
Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Ignac Golob. The members of the delegation
will also visit Franc Rozman-Stane barracks and watch a presentation
of the 1st Brigade of the Slovene Army.
