NATO Ministers to Discuss European Defence, Balkans and Afghanistan
1 - 2 December 2003, Brussels
Defence Ministers from NATO and thier counterparts from upcoming
member states, including Slovenia's Anton Grizold, are to hold their
regular half-yearly meeting in Brussels on Monday.
The meeting will focus on the establishment of a new commanding
structure and current campaigns, especially in Afghanistan and the
Balkans. European defence plans, which are worrying the U.S., are
likely to be examined as well.
The meeting of defence ministers will be followed by a meeting of
foreign ministers of the Alliance scheduled for Thursday and
Friday. These two ministerial meetings are the last before NATO holds
its summit on 28 and 29 June 2004 in Istanbul to welcome seven new
members, among them Slovenia, to the defence club.
