NATO Summit in Prague
New members, new partners, new capabilities, new challenges
21 and 22 November 2002
The 16th NATO Summit Meeting will take place in the Czech capital
on 21 and 22 November. Presidents and prime ministers of 19 State
Members and 27 partnership countries will discuss themes that directly
relate to the future role of the alliance and are of crucial
significance for the security and stability of the Euro-Atlantic
region. The identification of security concepts adapted to new
security considerations will have a positive impact on conditions in
the entire international community.
One of the themes that will be discussed at the Prague Summit, and
which is of most importance for Slovenia, is the enlargement of NATO
with new members. Slovenia has often been mentioned in recent months
among countries that can expect an invitation, since it is one of the
most credible candidates for membership of NATO.
