SKUPAJ (TOGETHER) - Regional Centre for the Psychosocial Well-being of Children

By founding the Centre, Slovenia wants to contribute its share to the psychosocial well-being and improving the mental health of children affected by armed conflict in the SEE region. We are thus developing expert and social concepts that link psychosocial well-being of the individual to social recovery and development. Slovenia believes that social reconciliation in the region depends on the psychosocial profile of the young generations. We wish thus to offer our expert knowledge and experience in the area of child mental health, our familiarity with the conditions, cultures and traditions of the region, as well as to unite the international resources of the international community for the well-being of children..

The Centre will take care of improving links between people and organisations that are active in the area of psychosocial assistance, as well as also collecting funds for the development or implementation of programmes in the region, for better taking into account the needs of the region, together with the active inclusion of local communities in the programme. The activities of the centre are intended to contribute to achieving more effective assistance to traumatised children in the region, to providing better conditions for the psychosocial development of children after cessation of armed conflict and in associated social crises, and thus to contribute to human security and the stability of the region.

The Centre operates on the basis of ten years of experience of Slovene philanthropy in the area of psychosocial assistance in the SEE region. The network of cooperation that Slovene philanthropy has developed over the years in the SEE region will be used for implementing activities (especially centres within the network "Networks for Social Reconstruction in Former Yugoslavia").
