Participation of the Slovenia in Peacekeeping Operations
According to the opinion poll, entitled "Attitudes of Slovenians
Towards NATO" in 2002, nearly 85% of those surveyed support the
participation of the Slovenian Armed Forces in humanitarian operations
and over 70% say they support their participation in peace support
operations. Since 1997 the Slovenian Armed Forces has actively
contributed to the peace and safety of the international community. It
is currently participating in four operations. According to the new
Slovenian national security strategy, participation in peacekeeping
and humanitarian operations is one of the basic tasks of the Slovenian
Armed Forces.
