Slovene police is participating in peacekeeping missions since October 1997, when first police officer was deployed to the MAPE mission in Albania upon the initiative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and by the decree issued by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. It is now participating in four missions, currently the final preparations are running on for police officers that will start their work on January 1st, 2003 in the new mission EUPM (European Union Police Mission) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
