Police officers from WEU Member States participated within the
frame of the MAPE Mission in Albania in training of Albanian
policemen, with reorganisation of the Albanian police and in
preparation of legislation for its functioning. The basic aim of the
mission was to approach the organisation and standards of activities
of Albanian police to the standards of the European police forces,
with special attention given to the respect of human rights and
freedoms.
 From November 6, 1997 to June 22, 2001 5 Slovene police officers
altogether participated in this mission.
They performed the following tasks in Albania:

crisis)
Head of MAPE field group for evaluation of programmes for training of Albanian
policemen

professionalism and proper equipment of the Slovene police in order to
be able to participate in various types of peacekeeping missions.
