Participation in Partnership for Peace international exercises
"COMPROTEX 1999" Exercise
The exercise was conducted between 6 - 8 November 1999 in the
three-border area between Austria, Hungary and the Slovak
Republic. The subject of the exercise was a disaster with hazardous
substances, whose effects spread to three countries. Rescue units
from 11 countries participated in the exercise. The participants from
Slovenia were: the Mobile Unit Environmental Laboratory, the Mobile
Unit for Meteorology and Hydrology from the Hydrologico-Meteorological
Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, and the regional Nuclear
Biological Chemical Protection (NBCP) Unit from Kranj.
"CMX 2001" Emergency Management Exercise
The exercise was conducted between 15 - 21 February 2001 in
Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Member States. The aim of the
exercise was to verify and improve emergency management procedures at
the national level and within the framework of NATO. All the competent
ministries in Slovenia participated in the exercise, which was
coordinated and directed by the Ministry of Defence.
"INTEX" Exercise
Slovenia participates every year in the INTEX International Staff
Exercise, whose presumption is a disaster with radiological
consequences. The purpose of the exercise is to verify information
exchanges between the competent national authorities, to verify
standard procedures and forms for the international exchange of
information on nuclear and other disasters used within the framework
of NATO, and to verify the appropriateness of the measures for the
protection of the inhabitants in the event of a radiological
disaster. About 20 countries, on the average, participate in the
exercise.
"TRANSCARPATHIA 2000" Exercise
The exercise was conducted between 25 - 28 September 2000 in
Uzghorod in the Ukraine, on the presumption of extensive flooding. The
purpose of the exercise was to test the procedures of the
Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Centre as well as the possibilities
and capabilities of the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Unit, with the
aim of improving the response capabilities of the NATO Alliance and
its Partnership States during a disaster.
Units from 11 countries participated in the exercise, together with
representatives from the EADRCC and the United Nations Office for the
Coordination of Humanitarian Activity. The Mobile Unit Environmental
Laboratory, delegated by Slovenia to the joint Euro-Atlantic Unit,
participated in the exercise from the Slovenian side. The
"Transcarpathia" Exercise was the first practical test of

TAMING THE DRAGON- DALMACIJA 2002" Exercise
The exercise was conducted between 21 - 24 May 2002 near Makarska
in Croatia. The presumption for the exercise was a big forest
fire. The purpose of the exercise was to verify and practice
cooperation between the forces for protection, rescue and relief from
different countries in joint international rescue missions. 19
countries participated, among them Slovenia, with several rescue units
(fire fighters, mountain rescue service and a helicopter crew).
